Hocus Pocus... for Tando's week "Black and Orange"

Hi all! At first, I really want to thank you for all your encouragements and lovely messages regarding my application to the DT call for Stampotique...but the verdict is in, I learned that I will not be part of the next Design Team at the beginning of 2014.. I won’t lie to you, I’m very disappointed. My ambition has never been to run for the most prestigious DT jobs, neither to multiply them… only to enter a friendly team fitting perfectly with my whimsical style and my aspirations. And that was the case with Stampotique Originals.

Well, I have to accept their decision and make confidence in them…Probably I was not enough talented or representative for them. That’s being said, I don’t have to feel ashamed as I am already part of a wonderful team I love that I’ve really chosen and they also chose me among a lot of other applicants.. I’m speaking of my DT Tando Creative, for which I’m very glad and honoured to work and represent in France. That’s largely enough for a mum of four children to raise working three days a week and being a crafter quite overbooked yet! And it’s an important commitment for me I wouldn’t like having neglected… :) 

So it’s all fine, let’s go to continue to energize my blog with projects I love, and love sharing with you ! (don’t hesitate to tell me what you think of the one I’m going to show you now… otherwise I will be also very disappointed hahaha !!!)) But be careful, it’s frighteniiiiiiing !!.... Welcome to my new subscribers in my whimsical world! 

Bonjour à tous et toutes ! Avant tout un grand merci pour tous vos messages d’encouragement concernant ma participation à l'appel DT de la marque de tampons Stampotique, mais le verdict est tombé, j’ai appris que je ne ferai pas partie de la prochaine Design Team... Je ne vais pas vous mentir, je suis très déçue. Mon ambition n’a jamais été de briguer les postes de DT les plus prestigieux ni de les multiplier… Seulement de faire partie d’une équipe répondant vraiment à mon style et mes aspirations, ce qui était vraiment le cas pour les tampons Stampotique Originals.

Bon, je dois me faire une raison, et leur faire confiance… il faut croire que je n’étais pas assez talentueuse ou représentative à leurs yeux. Cela étant dit, je n’ai pas à rougir puisque je fais déjà partie d’une DT que j’adore, que j’ai choisie et qui m’a également choisie parmi beaucoup d’autres candidatures… je veux parler de ma DT Tando Creative, que j’ai la joie et l’honneur de représenter en France. C’est déjà bien suffisant vu mon planning de maman travaillant à 70% et de scrappeuse archi-bookée ! Et un engagement important pour moi que je n’aurais pas aimé négliger… :)

Donc tout est bien qui finit bien, allez allez, on se remotive pour continuer à faire vivre ce blog des réas qui me plaisent, et que j’aime tant partager avec vous. :) (mais n’hésitez pas à me dire ce que vous pensez de ce que je vais vous montrer maintenant… sinon je serai archi-d-é-ç-u-e hum !)) Attention quand même ça fait peeeeeeeeeurrrrr !!… Bienvenue à mes nouvelles abonnées dans mon univers fantaisiste! 

Back to crafty things now... Here is my last project for TANDO, this week the theme is Black and Orange... I didn't do anything yet on the theme of Halloween except a few ATCs, and it itched me to create a large magical scene on scary and creepy things ! Soooo... I did this on a large plain watercolour A3 size sheet. From Tando's shop I have used two great masks, cobweb 2 and Distorved hige, and a small bat from a bag of three bats. Hope you will not suffer from nightmares after witnessing that !!! 

Retour au scrap à présent.... Je vous montre ma dernière réa pour TANDO, cette semaine sur le blog le thème est Noir et Orange.... A part quelques ATCs, je n'avais encore rien eu le temps de faire sur le thème d'Halloween. Donc là je me suis bien rattrapée héhé ! J'ai utilisé 3 beaux produits de chez Tando Creative, 2 masques (cobweb 2 et Distorved Hige, et un petit chipboard chauve-souris). je vous les montre en photos à la fin de mon post. Bon, j'espère que vous n'allez pas faire trop de cauchemars quand même après ça !!!  

I started off by directly applying texture paste through my distorved hige stencil on my page in a few places, leaving the central part ungrunged. After dry I spritzed lightly the whole page with water (that will help to blend the inks coming after), and then used a mixture of mistable inks from different brands in grey, yellow and orange mainly, you can find the full list at the end. When dry I also sprayed white ink in some areas.

I put aside my page to dry naturally, and then I prepared a set of die-cuts, and also did my beautiful flower using scraps of watercolour and black papers inked with my Distress inks + leftovers of mistable inks (mainly violet) on my craft sheet; I die cut my flower and assembled it using Sizzix Tattered Leaves and 2 shapes from a punch, to form the heart. Many layers and small pieces of cardboard glued between them!

Next I stamped my wonderful owl (Indigoblu) in the left corner, after putting (with my finger) some blank and yellow paints and inks under it. I checked the effect using my stamp positioner (I highly recommend this tool if you don’t have it yet, sooooo useful!). You can see this step on the following images.

Côté technique je ne vais pas vous mentir, il y a beaucoup de travail sur une réa comme celle-ci; mais moi ça me plait, je me régale, et quand je suis lancée je ne compte plus les heures ni le travail. Je vous résume les principales étapes pour celles que ça intéresse:

J’ai commencé par appliquer un peu de pate texturée directement sur une grande page de papier aquarelle au format A3, à quelques endroits mais en laissant le centre vide. Après séchage j’ai vaporisé un peu d’eau, pour que les encres à venir se mélangent mieux. J’ai pshitté alors 3 ou 4 encres différentes, principalement en gris, jaune et orange. Une fois sec, j’ai rajouté de l’encre blanche à différents endroits.

J’ai mis de côté ma page à sécher, et j’ai préparé mes découpes, puis j’ai fait ma fleur tout en volume, avec des chutes de papier noir et aquarelle encrées aux encres distress. Je l’ai monté fleur par fleur, en y intégrant pas mal de petits bouts de carton pour plus de volume encore... Mon cœur est fait avec 2 fleurs faites à la perforatrice.

Ensuite j’ai tamponné ma merveilleuse chouette (Indigoblu) dans le coin supérieur gauche, après avoir mis un peu de peinture jaune et blanche pour la faire ressortir, avec le château hanté… Je me suis servie de mon positionneur de tampon, c’est vraiment un outil génial !

Here are a few intermediate steps: Voici quelques étapes intermédaires: 

All the stamps of my scene were stamped using either black Archival ink or Versamark, being heat embossed next with my black glittered mixture of powders like on my trio of arches for example. Some Die cut were added here and there, and the silhouettes were glued with pieces of cardboard under them to pop. I redrew some lines of my owl with a fine black to highlight it, this owl is so beautiful !!.. 

Fresco Finish paints were also used in complement to add colour using a brush (or my fingers) in some areas, and sometimes also used for stamping like for my central skull. The fabulous cobweb 2 at the top left edge is by Tando, and was stencilled with snowflake to give it a white shade like death... I used a fine black pen for finish to underline some areas.

My bat was painted in black, and also heat embossed with the leftovers of my magical mix of powders. I introduced some Yellow stickles in their eye sockets as an eye-catcher and to scare ! I did the same for my small skull hidden behind the hell door, also covered first with some Crackle Accents as far as I can remember !

At this stage I edged my page with black paint. 

J'ai tamponné tous les tampons de ma scène à l'encre noire Archival ou avec ma Versamark, que j'ai embossés à chaud avec un mélange de poudres noire et pailletée comme sur mon trio d'arches par exemple. J'ai positionné et collé mes découpes en complément, et j'ai mis mes deux silhouettes en relief en les collant sur des petits bouts de cartons. J'ai souligné au feutre noir fin les lignes principales de ma chouette pour la faire ressortir, elle est tellement belle !!...   

J'ai ajouté quelques touches de peinture (jaune, orange...,.. de chez PaperArtsy) ici ou là au pinceau ou directement avec mon doigt, et je me suis servie aussi de ma peinture blanche Snowflake pour tamponner mon crâne et dessiner ma toile d'araignée en haut à gauche,  avec un morceau de cut'n dry appliqué sur mon pochoir "cobweb 2". J'ai souligné au un feutre noir fin certaines zones. 

Ma chauve-souris est peinte en noire puis embossée des les restes de mon mélange de poudres magiques... J'ai aussi introduit du gel Stickles jaune dans les orbites du crâne pour attirer le regard et faire peur ! J'ai aussi fait un peu la même chose sur mon petit squelette caché derrière la grande arche, également recouvert de Crackle Accents si je me souviens bien. 

A ce stade, j'ai peint tous les bords de ma page en noir.   

Here’s the result before the last (quite delicate!) step: the introduction of even more creepy-crawly stamps from my rubber plate CI-361 to enrich the dark side of my whole scene, and enter the October challenge, great fun LOL!!!

I love this dark part of my scene that looks like if many flying creatures have fought strongly in the sky !... 

J’adore cette partie de mon décor assez sombre, on dirait qu’il y a eu une bataille de creatures volantes en tout genres et que ça a drôlement fritté !… 

My skull was first stamped using Snowflake white paint then stamped again in Versamark and heat embossed with a mix of black and glittered powders. I decided to highlight the eyes in orange and yellow colours (inspired in that by the last stunning tag from Julia!), and to add a coat of Crackle Glaze on them for finishing. I looooove the effect !!

Le clou du spectacle, c'est quand même ce squelette et cette tête de mort, Gnarfffff !.... Je l'ai d'abord tamponnée d’abord à la peinture blanche, puis encrée à la Versamark et embossé à chaud avec un mélange de poudres noire et pailletée. J’ai colorisé les yeux en jaune et orange (inspirée par le dernier tag de Julia !), et j’y ai ajouté du Crackle Glaze (vernis craquelé) pour la touche finale. J’adooooooooore mon crâne !! (Sandra, toi qui es la spécialiste, t'en dis quoi ?...)

This piece is superbe, Coco! All those layers and details. I know the frightening feeling when the background is just perfect and you have to stamp directly on it . But you did it in a wonderful way, as always.
